BMW - GINA

BMW  has taken the concept of mobility to a whole new level where they have challenged various aspects of a car starting from it's conventional design patterns to it's manufacturing needs and processes. The outcome was a revolutionary new concept 'GINA'. The GINA principle lies within a new idea that is "Geometry and Functions In “N” Adaptions". The goal of this concept is to break free from the so called wisdom of making a car and to design the shape and functionality of a car in 'N' ways or infinite different ways.

The GINA has an almost seamless outer skin, a flexible textile cover that stretches across a movable substructure. This material is highly durable, extremely expansion-resistant, water-repellent and resistant to high and low temperatures and that's why it is suitable for this application.

Another essential material property is a maximum level of dimensional stability. It must remain dimensionally stable irrespective of the temperature and air humidity it is exposed to even after severe and constant expansion.

In the interior, the car’s variability is also adapted to suit the driver’s needs. This creates a close interaction between driver and car in various different situations.

As in when the car is parked, the steering wheel, the round instruments panel, speedometer and fuel gauge which are vertically arranged on the center console, are in idle position. This provides the driver with maximum comfort upon entering the car. When the driven enters the car, the seat only assumes its optimized functional position and shape, the headrest rises automatically with the steering wheel and instrument panel moves towards the diver.

The design of the rear element allows for automatic lifting of the rear spoiler when a certain speed is reached, thus creating extra down force on the rear axle at higher speeds which is really essential for a light vehicle like GINA.

But the most amazing feature that makes GINA truly different from others is that you can talk to her. You can tell GINA to do certain things and she responds.

Although now GINA is not exactly a production line car and it a has an internal combustion engine but, in future GINA could be the perfect car.
